Amanda Reid
Amanda is an experienced leader, specialising in integrated research methodologies, stakeholder engagement, and strategic planning to drive informed decision-making and effective solutions.
As CEO, Amanda is committed to a culture of innovation, collaboration, and excellence within BERL. She emphasises the importance of integrating diverse perspectives and leveraging cross-cultural insights to drive sustainable growth and positive societal impact.
Amanda has been at BERL since 2018 as a researcher and consultant, and on the management team since 2021. Her areas of expertise at BERL are the Māori economy, including indigenous trade and strengths-based Māori futures; workforce issues, including workforce development strategies and the value of diversity; and evaluation and impact measurement.
Amanda has over 20 years of experience in the social and health sectors, covering management and governance roles, as well as research and evaluation, and service design and delivery. She has significant experience in cross-cultural environments, with a deep respect for tikanga and kawa (whanaungatanga, manaakitanga, and tangata whenuatanga).
Amanda's skills:
- Strategic and business planning, including undertaking environmental analysis, identifying strategic priorities, and developing action and operating plans
- Research design and implementation, using integrative (qualitative and quantitative) research methodologies
- Stakeholder engagement and consultation, facilitating focus groups and workshops across public and private sectors with a variety of stakeholders
- Monitoring and evaluation skills, including developing monitoring frameworks and systems, designing evaluation plans, and undertaking outcome/impact and process evaluations (Member of Australia Evaluation Society)
- Narrative analysis and writing, communicating complex information to a range of audiences
- Operational management, including day-to-day management of BERL team, client and partner relationships, and deliverables.

- A skills-based wine workforce with Wine Marlborough in partnership with New Zealand Winegrowers and the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment
- Te Tai Tokerau and manufacturing-engineering sector impact studies for Kānoa - Regional Economic Development & Investment Unit
- Te Ōhanga Māori with the Reserve Bank of New Zealand
- Rare disorders prevalence for Rare Disorders New Zealand.
Amanda is passionate about community engagement and social impact. In her spare time, she enjoys foreign films, music, and spending time with whānau. She serves as Chair of The Workshop, a member of the Zonta Club of Wellington, and is on the Wellington Film Society Committee.
