Mark has around 35 years of experience as an economist in academia, the non-government sector, consulting and the public service. He has worked in the United Kingdom and New Zealand. His experience has mainly focused on: strategy development and implementation; economic impact assessment; skills and labour market issues; and, local economic profiling. He has worked in both the public and private sectors in New Zealand and the UK.
Since joining BERL in 2013, Mark has prepared economic profiles covering four regions and 16 cities and districts. He has worked on sector studies related to the film, property and tourism industries. And he has prepared economic impact assessments for a university-based scientific research centre, an arts festival, and a proposed film museum.
In his spare time, Mark enjoys refereeing junior football, being an assistant Scout leader, and getting involved with church activities. Coming originally from the UK, he is also an ardent and long-suffering football supporter. So, naturally, he is a die-hard Wellington Phoenix fan.
